Eating organic foods like fruits, vegetables, and meats, among others are the best ways to stave off this disease. Gluten, is a tenaciously elastic protein substance that comes from grains, especially wheat flour, that gives cohesiveness to dough. A study by the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Program noted that one out of every 133 healthy adults in the United States has celiac disease and the accompanying digestive problems if they eat anything containing gluten. The study further revealed that genetic inheritance, infections and liver function can influence this type of sensitivity. Avoiding foods containing too much gluten will not only benefit you from celiac disease, but also protect your body against multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Neuromyelitis (inflammation of the nervous system), Peripheral neuropathies, Down’s syndrome and Type 2 and Type 1 diabetes. Taking extra care of ourselves should always be maintained if we want to live a normal lifestyle. Exercising daily, taking our supplements, and giving importance to a balanced diet, are among of the important aspects of our day to day life. Life is the best gift from God, and we should show more interest in it that we are worthy of enjoying this precious gift.* (Roberto L. Bacasong) |
